When Daniel Simon contacted me in 2018, he was in charge of designing the DarkStar for Tom Cruise’s next film, Top Gun 2. His time constraint was particularly short to design a real hypersonic aircraft, as the actor had requested. The film’s production gave him 15 days to design a model and 2 months to finalize it. For this unique project, I had to finalize the shapes in a particularly short timeframe, while respecting the constraints imposed by the Skunkwork / Lockheed Martin engineers.
